Hi here are a few drawings I just thought I’d share with you . Most of them were concepts for finished artwork and a few just for my own amusement.
Metropolis Poster (Russian Constructivist Style)
A Dream Fulfilled.
The Aviator
The archetypal Steam punk girl.
This shows my great love of Steampunk . I initially got inspiration for this after watching the movie Sky Captain and the world of Tomorrow and i proceeded to add as many Steam punk clichés as i could think of.
I also experimented with multiple layers in Photoshop to get a wide variety of textures such as in the leather coat and the silk scarf.
Space gal
Hibernation
Dr Phibes (Steampunk)
Hi
Heres my latest work inspired by the old Vincent Price movie “The Abominable DR Phibes”. Ive added elements of steam punk and elaborated on some of the set design found in the film such as the motifs down the side of the picture. I worked this picture up from my original pencil sketch which i scanned into Photoshop and added detail and colour .
Retro Blue
Pictures i’d forgotten about
Hi
Just been rummaging through the old carboard boxes in the corner of the shed and i came across some old photos of paintings i’d done when i was in my late teens ….so long ago .
Totally forgotten i d done these , it feels like a different person did these, i think i must have been in a very romantic frame of mind at the time , that or i was smoking to much wacky baccy .
I have no idea what happened to the actual paintings , maybe they will turn up in that carboard box in the other corner of the shed .
Further Adventures in OIl Painting
Oil meet again.
Hi
Thought i’d get back into oil painting after being digital for so long .
This is a practice painting ive just completed of the little known silent movie star called Alice White . .. Bless her , hope she’s looking down from heaven and nodding her approval.
Found the whole process really challenging , and felt i was losing control at times but i persevered and assumed control in the end .
Warning ..potentially boring game art blog
Hi
Been a bit lax with my blogging lately so i thought i’d shove on some 3d art which i,ve just completed for my portfolio .
I was at a loss on what to build so i just went for my local library .
For all you tech people out there ill thrill you with some statistics
I used 2,083,473 polys , 13 diffuse texture pages including normal and specular maps , 21 lights and used an occlusion map on all my renders.
I also consumed approx 34 cups of coffee and 12 packets of mini chedders whilst buiding this.

Zodiac signs (Scorpio)
The Rose Series (Yellow Rose)
Hi
Here’s something i made a few years ago for no reason other to than to paint a female character (the rose motif was just an excuse ) . I did a series of four and they were actually published in a certain magazine at the time .
Here’s the Yellow Rose , I will be putting the other three pics up on later blogs so watch this space .
Concept art
Hi
Happy Friday
Just like to share with you some more of my game concept art from back in the 90,s. Heavily influenced by Alien and all that Giger stuff that i was really into at the time .
I named him Slygo , don’t know why now but i must have had a good reason at the time . Think it was the designers idea.

Just another one of my Zodiac signs for all you Taurians out there .

The Bride of Frankenstein (Steampunk )
Finally finished my Bride of Frankenstein picture ,(time for a glass of wine)
It hasn’t been an easy picture to create , lots of scratching of the head and mind changing , still got there in the end and i’m quite pleased with
it . Before anyone asks the latin inscription on the wall translates as “To a new world of gods and monsters”which is a line from the original Bride of Frankenstein film .
Zodiac Signs (Sagittarius)
Good morning and happy Tuesday .
Been a while since i put up a new blog as ive been exceptionally busy on my Bride of Frankenstein picture .
Heres a piece i did earlier for the Zodiac series , it’s quite apt as it s the sign for December and my birthday month (every year is getting shorter , never seem to find the time etc ) At least i,m younger than George Clooney and better looking .
Bride of Frankenstein (Steampunk )Work in Progress
Hi Folks
New project in the offing . It all started with my Steampunk Metropolis robot , now it seems i’m obsessed with converting old movie imagery to Steampunk , they just cry out for it . My latest is to be a Steampunk version of the Bride of Frankenstein . One thing i’m not doing is just copying the imagery of the original film no matter how fantastic it or amazing it was , i’m just using the imagery it conjurs up for me personally . Anyway here’s my working sketch of the Bride and the work in progress so far which ive worked up in Photoshop , the background i still have to figure out .
Zodiac Signs (Gemini)
Zodiac signs (Aquarius)
Hi Folks
Following on in my Zodiac series ,here’s the second picture ive done in the series Aquarius . I’ve used the same background throughout the series to maintain a sense of continuity .
Prints can be obtained on my website www.kadonaldart.com
Zodiac signs (Aries)
This is the first of my Zodiac signs series which iv,e completed in Photoshop from my initial sketch. I altered the clothes slightly as you can see .
I’ve finished seven zodiac signs so far and I’ll put them out on future blogs .
I’m not actually a believer in horoscopes but any excuse to paint the female form and I’m there.
Prints are available from my website . www.kadonaldart.com
Mechagarden (parts 1&2)
Hi Folks
Here are two oil paintings i did a few years back .(i don’t produce many oil paintings as they take ages to paint). They are titled Mechagarden 1 and Mechagarden 2 and symbolise the encroachment of technology on the environment . The machines have no real functanality but they dominate the garden like gigantic iron trees and threaten to dominate and swallow the landscape.
Metropolis poster
Metropolis Robot (Steampunk)
Hello and happy thursday
Just thought i’d share my pic of the robot from Frtitz Langs Metropolis rendered in a Steampunk fashion. I tried to make it as close to the original in design so as not to upset the Lang purists amongst you . If you haven’t seen the movie then check it out , it was years ahead of it’s time in special effects .
Psychedelic ad is complete .. turn on , tune in and watch X Factor …or not
Airships rule ..yea
Hi Folks
Busy doing a bit of retail advertising in a retro psychedelic fashion , think swinging London 1967.
Too early to put the work on here just yet so i’m putting this one on instead , which i made earlier . It was originally the title page for my old website and it’s Steampunk based .yet again
How i love painting airships .
Steampunk picture is FINISHED “hurrah”
Hi Folks
My picture is finally complete ..yippee, it’s turned out slightly different from my original concept , but that what seems to happen when i work , the ideas seem to flow in stages , still i think it’s turned out pretty much as how i wanted it and i’m quite pleased with it .
Now i wonder what my next blog will be about? ..argg
Thanks

Currently detailing my latest picture in Photoshop.(no title as yet , suggestions welcome) Not sure about the background content but probably going to feature some conceptual airships from the late 19th Century .
Here’s the initial sketch for the main character , the hat and the binoculars are the elements i’ve detailed so far.
Thanks , Have a good weekend
